E Jameela Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education, confirmed that the proactive step made by the Ministry, to open registration in kindergartens at an earlier time, is a result of its commitment towards achievement of the goals stipulated under the national agenda, relating to the rate of enrolment in kindergartens, and the directives of H. She said that the Ministry of Education intensified its efforts and developed a thorough work plan, focusing on raising awareness on the importance of registering UAE children in kindergartens. The Ministry also worked on encouraging UAE parents to register their children early in government and private kindergartens, within the specified registration period, to achieve the desired educational objectives. She stressed that education is a community matter, which requires concerted efforts and participation in the national campaign for early registration in kindergartens, in order to increase the rate of UAE children in both government and private kindergartens in the country, in order to achieve the special goal within the national agenda related to enrolment rate in kindergartens in the country. Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Tolerance will collaborate with individuals, institutions, local and federal government departments in the country to make tolerance a way of life, a top official from the Ministry of Tolerance said on Monday. To achieve the goals, the Ministry organised its first forum in the capital to interact with its stakeholders, partners and different government entities. Now they will come up with different ideas and plans, which the ministry will implement in cooperation with different entities across the country. About 45 federal and local government entities of the country including private sectors and over intellectuals, cultural leaders took part in the forum to discuss different modalities of spreading tolerance to individuals, homes and offices in the country. He said the tolerance is about being secure in your own culture and belief, so that you respond to what is different with curiosity and compassion rather than with fear and intolerance.
The campaign is part of various programs and initiatives launched by the Ministry of Health and Prevention to reduce the prevalence of obesity in the country, through enhancing community awareness of the risks of obesity to human health. In line with the National Agenda which aims to reduce rates of cancer disease, as well as diabetes and heart diseases where obesity is considered a key factor in these diseases. The campaign aims to make positive lifestyle changes and to early detect cardiovascular disease-related risk factors including; smoking, malnutrition, inactivity and stress. The program is under the operational plan initiatives aims to achieve the National Indicators for the reduction of mortality due to cardiovascular disease, by selecting groups of students to serve as awareness ambassadors for cardiovascular health in their schools, neighborhood and the local community to disseminate and promote concepts and practices supporting cardiovascular health. Student Growth Record in its first phase will support the national program to combat obesity in children and adolescents. It will highlight cases of obesity annually among school children between the ages of five and 17 and provide information on the dietary habits and level of physical activity of every child.
